CLARK CUP FINALS PITS TOP TWO TEAMS IN USHL IN ICE AND BLACK HAWKS
TWO CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS SPLIT REGULAR SEASON SERIES
INDIANAPOLIS—The
Clark Cup championship finals is set and will feature the Eastern
Conference champion Indiana Ice (42-11-7) against the Western Conference
champion Waterloo Black
Hawks
(44-11-5). Games one and two are this Friday (5/9) and Saturday (5/10)
from Young Arena in Waterloo, IA with game three back in Indianapolis
on Friday (5/16) from Pan Am Pavilion.
The
Ice swept the Eastern Conference finals against the defending USHL
champion Dubuque Fighting Saints which ended with a 3-2 victory last
Friday from the Mystique Community Ice Center in Dubuque, IA. Scott
Conway led the Icemen against Dubuque with four points (2G, 2A), while
Denis Smirnov and Sam Kurker both had a pair of goals. Jason Pawloski
continued his strong postseason run with three wins, a 1.67 GAA and a
.933 SV%.
The
Black Hawks defeated the Sioux City Musketeers three games to one in
the Western Conference finals which included a 5-1 victory in the series
clincher on Sunday night. Liam Pecararo and Brandon Montour
led the Waterloo attack with five points apiece, while Cal Petersen was
3-1 in net with a 1.87 GAA and a .941 SV%.
Waterloo
(93 pts) edged Indiana (91 pts) by two points for the Anderson Cup which
is awarded to the team with the most standings points at the end of the
regular season. The two teams split the season series
with both squads earning convincing victories on their home ice. Brian
Pinho (3G) and Conway (G, 2A) were the top point producers against the
Black Hawks, while Pawloski had the victory in net. Tim Lappin led the
offense for Waterloo with four points (G,
3A), while Cameron Johnson posted the win between the pipes.

for the Clark Cup playoffs, presented by Ivy Tech, remain the same at
