Ice defender Nick Mattson was named the USHL's Defenseman of the Year today. Mattson was tops among the league in defensemen in plus/minus (+33) and second among defensemen with 30 assists. Mattson helped quarterback the league's best offense and power play.
He's headed to the University of North Dakota next year after a fine two-year career in Indiana. He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks last year in the sixth round.
Nick is the first Ice player to receive the Defenseman of the Year honor.
Here's the USHL's press release on Mattson. Congrats!
