Ice defenseman Matthew Krug was named the USHL's Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Ice sweep Youngstown and Waterloo last weekend.
Krug's first career USHL goal came in the second period of Friday's 3-2 victory at Waterloo. It gave the Ice a 3-0 lead, and turned out to be the game-winner in a 3-2 win. He also had two assists in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Youngstown. A member of the Ice's PK unit, Krug helped the unit go perfect on the weekend, and solidify its spot close to the top of the league. Green Bay forward Sam Herr and goaltender Michael Rotolo were the other honorees for the weekend.
