Ice forward Sean Kuraly tallied a goal and an assist for the United States in a 4-1 victory over Canada East in a World Junior A Challenge exhibition Saturday night.
Kuraly assisted on a goal by Vince Hinostroza in the first period that made it a 2-0 game. He then scored at 12:10 of the second to put the United States ahead 3-1.
The United States team features several top USHL players who are taking the week away from their junior teams to represent their country. The U.S. will play its first pool game at 10:30 p.m. Monday against Sweden. The second pool game will be at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday against Canada West. The tournament will conclude Sunday, Nov. 13, which means Kuraly (and several other players) will not be with their USHL teams next weekend.
Green Bay starting goaltender Ryan McKay -- whose team the Ice will host Friday night -- is also part of the U.S. team. He made 32 saves in the victory.
