Three players with Ice ties are playing for the United States this week in various capacities:
Ex-Iceman and Boston Bruins draft pick Brian Ferlin will play in the World Junior evaluation camp in Lake Placid, which begins Saturday. The schedule:
Saturday, 4 p.m.: Team USA White vs. Team USA Blue (Ferlin is playing for Team USA White)
Sunday, 4 p.m.: Team USA White vs. Team USA Blue
Monday, 4:30 p.m.: Team USA White vs. Finland
Wednesday, 4 p.m.: USA vs. Sweden
Thursday, 4 p.m.: USA vs. Finland
Saturday, Aug. 13, 1 p.m.: USA vs. Sweden
The USA Hockey site covering all things WJC Evalaution Camp is here. Games will be webcast on the site. This year's team will be coached by former Fargo Force coach Dean Blais. USA Hockey's GM is former Indianapolis Ice player Jim Johannsen.
Ice goaltender Jon Gillies is headed to the Czech Republic to play in the Ivan Hlinka Tournament, the first tournament for players in their draft year. Gillies is headed to Northeastern University after playing the 2011-12 season with the Ice.
